What's this? Yamagata Hanagasa Festival photos by Philbert Ono. Held during August 5-7 in Yamagata.
The start of the parade. The kanji characters read "Yamagata Hanagasa Matsuri." Matsuri means festival.
When I went, the crowd was thin and finding a place to watch the parade was a breeze. The crowds were concentrated at the end of the parade route.
