What's this? Fukagawa Hachiman Festival photos by Philbert Ono. Held in mid-August in Koto Ward, Tokyo, this is the festival's full-scale version held once every three years (1996, 1999, 2002, etc.).

This is another method where they carry the mikoshi with raised arms while moving forward. This is called "sashi-kiri." Usually done while crossing a bridge.

Since Koto Ward has a lot of rivers and canals, it has a lot of bridges. Its two biggest bridges are Kiyosu-bashi Bridge and Eitai-bashi Bridge which both span the Sumida River. They are lit up at night.
