What's this? Fukagawa Hachiman Festival photos by Philbert Ono. Held in mid-August in Koto Ward, Tokyo, this is the festival's full-scale version held once every three years (1996, 1999, 2002, etc.).

Taiko Drum Performance

For the evening's entertainment, many taiko drum troupes came to perform for about 3 hours. The thunderous performances were spellbinding. There were a lot of women drummers too.

 

And young drummers too. Hitting or beating something is a great way to let off steam. But it takes a lot of practice to put on a show like this.
