Smiling for the camera

It's always nice to see a smiling woman on a vintage postard. This is not an ideal smile though. Kind of sheepish and unnatural. Sort of half-hearted and "halfway" like her fan which is only half open.

it is rare for japanese women to smile so openly (at least back then) they would modestly cover they mouth while laughing witht their hand or fan, thus why this looks so unnatural, it must've really been awkward for her.
