Japanese Beauty

::

I would call this a representative example of a "Nihon Bijin" or Japanese Beauty photograph. She's posed formally, dressed in a kimono, and looking serene and attractive. She might be a geisha. Hand-colored, and undivided back. I bought it for 1,200 yen.

Geisha wear their kimono pulled low at the back of the neck, exposing the nape which is considered very sexy. This young lady seems merely dressed for a formsl occasion and not a geisha.

Anonymous above is correct. This young woman is not a Geisha but acts as someone representing her family at a wedding. The kamon -family crest- visible by her shoulders is a large hint to that as well as the fact that she is already married.

She looks as though she just doesn't care anymore, to quote a popular song about now, "my give a damn is busted".
The slouch is what really gave me this impression, usually Japanese posture, especially in kimono (especially formal attire) is so upright.
