Girl with Umbrella

::

Hand-colored postcard dating before 1918. The kimono looks like casual wear, and the design pattern was typical during the turn of the 20th century. She's still in her teens it seems. This was one of the first vintage Japanese postcards I bought. It was 2,000 yen.

By european standards she looks youthful but typically Japanese women retain their youthful beauty way into their thirties, she is most likely in her 20's.

The sleeves on her kimono are very short, which would typically indicate a married woman, which isn't unlikely for a 20ish woman. Also, she doesn't have children if she's out and about, she is probably newly married. Once any woman is burdened with children, she doesn't have much time to stroll around!
