Maruzen Bookstore’s new Tokyo store

On Sept. 14, 2004, Maruzen Bookstore opened their new Tokyo store right in front of Tokyo Station near the Marunouchi North Exit.

It’s a beautiful store with many shelves of foreign/imported books and magazines. There’s also a gallery space and famed photographer Daido Moriyama was the first to exhibit there.

The old Nihonbashi store will close in Oct. temporarily until 2007 since the building will be rebuilt. During the interim, they will have a temporary Nihonbashi store near the old location.

The new Tokyo store (Marunouchi Honten) will prove to be more convenient for many of us.

Photo Imaging Expo 2005 in Tokyo

On March 17-20, 2005, the new, gigantic Photo Imaging Expo (PIE 2005) will be held at Tokyo Big Sight.

Up to 2004, there was the Photo Expo for small-format cameras and accessories, International Professional Photo Fair (IPPF) featuring large-format and professional equipment, and the Lab System Show for minilabs all held on different dates. Well, from next year 2005, these three trade shows will be combined into one big show called the Photo Imaging Expo.

There will be 1,000 booths by 200 companies. It will be Asia’s largest photo trade show. About 100,000 people are expected to attend (admission 1,000 yen).

English Web site: http://www.pie2005.jp/en/top.htm
The Web site includes information (including rates) on having a booth at the show.

At last, we can check out both 35mm cameras and large-format cameras on the same day under the same roof.

Very good!
