Impressions: Photographing children of the world is the photographer's life work. He has done it in 120 countries during the last 50 years. He's not out to photograph children to try and make them look cute as most parents might do. Instead, he aims to show the state of the world through children's viewpoint. He traveled to Afghanistan in the July 2001 and Feb. 2002 with Japanese actress Tetsuko Kuroyanagi, the UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador. It was before and after the terrorist attack on the US and the US retaliation on Afghanistan. The photographs show how Afghan children are living in the war-torn country. Life goes on no matter what. See children at school, at home (which might be a tent or hospital), and at work (selling candy). The photos are all captioned (in Japanese only). 600-4 |
