PhotoBBS FAQ Last modified: 2003-02-21 |
What's this? A complete guide to using PhotoBBS, PhotoGuide Japan's message board system.
What is PhotoBBS?
It is PhotoGuide Japan's message board system for people interested in photography and Japan. It has over ten message boards (forums) where you can read and post pertinent announcements and comments, ask and answer questions, obtain and share useful information, meet people having the same interests, and participate in a friendly online community. It opened in July 2002 at http://photojpn.org/bbs/.
What are the features of PhotoBBS?
PhotoBBS is hosted by PhotoGuide Japan and powered by a feature-rich message board program called phpbb. It has been designed for high security, multilingual environments, and user customization. To see a complete list of features, click here.
How do I access PhotoBBS?
Just click here or if you are at PhotoGuide Japan's home page, see PhotoBBS in the side bar and click on any of the message board links. Direct links to different message boards in PhotoBBS are also provided on other pages within PhotoGuide Japan. For example, all our online photo exhibitions (PhotoShowcase, PhotoExposure, etc.) have links to a "Guestbook" which is part of PhotoBBS. And special theme book reviews in PhotoReviews include a link to the PhotoReviewsForum. The PhotoBBS URL is http://photojpn.org/bbs/.
When you first access PhotoBBS, you will see the PhotoBBS Forum Index. This is the home page where you can access all available message boards.
Under "Forum," click on the forum (we usually call it "message board") that you want to see. You will then see a list of topics in that forum. A topic is the subject name of a message thread. Click on any topic to see the message(s).
Most of our message boards allow anyone to post messages. However, a few message boards require that you first register with a username, e-mail address, and password. Each message board has a How to Post Here announcement at the top of the topic list. Read that announcement to learn how to post a message and check if you have to be a registered user or not.
If you are allowed to post messages, you can either start a new topic or post a reply to an existing topic.
To start a new topic, click the "New topic" button. To reply to a message, click on the topic and click on the "Post reply" button.
The posting form will then appear. It is explained as follows:
Required
Subject - The subject line of your post. Make it as specific as possible
so viewers will know what your message is about. Don't write non-specific subject
lines like "A question" or "Can you help me?" If it is a
new post, the subject line is required, and it will become the name of the topic.
If the message is a reply to another post, the subject line will be optional.
Message Body - Type your message in the text box.
Submit button - After you finish typing the message, click Submit
to post the message. (To check how your message will look, click Preview.)
That's all you have to do. But if you want to make it fancy, you can use the following optional features:
Optional
Smilies - Click on the desired smiley to insert it. The corresponding text
code will appear in the text box after the last word in your message. (If you
want to insert it elsewhere, cut and paste it on the desired location.) When
you preview or submit your message, the smiley icon will appear in the message.
Text formatting - The text formatting buttons enable you to add formatting
to your text such as boldface. This is done by enclosing the text with BBCode
tags which are similar to HTML tags except that square brackets [ ] are used
instead of angle brackets < >.
For example, to create boldface text, click on the B button
to insert the opening tag [b]. After you type the text, click on the B button
again to insert the closing tag [/b]. The text between the boldface tags will
appear in boldface. Click on Preview to see it. You can also type the tags directly
anywhere in your message. To see the tag's correct syntax, move the pointer
over the formatting button or menu. For details, click on BBCode under
"Options" on the lower left corner.
Signature (Registered users only) - If you are a registered user logged
in, you can add your signature to your post. To do this, check the box next
to Attach Signature. You can create or modify your signature by modifying
your profile.
Reply Notification (Registered users only) - To receive an e-mail notification
each time someone replies to your topic, checkmark "Notify me when a reply
is posted."
Preview button - After you type your message, you can check it by clicking
Preview. Any text formatting and smileys will appear. If the message
looks okay, click Submit to post it on the message board.
Edit or delete (Registered users only) - If you are a registered user,
you can later edit or delete your message by viewing the message and clicking
on the edit or delete (x) button on the upper right corner.
If you edit a post after it has been replied to, a small message will appear at the bottom of it indicating how many times it has been edited, and when and by whom the last edit occurred. You cannot delete a post if it has been replied to. In this case, you must ask the PhotoBBS administrator (photojpn or philbert) to delete it for you.
Quoting a message enables you to include someone's post in your own. It is useful for showing that you are replying to a previous message, or part of it.
To quote all of someone's post, look at the top right corner of their post and click Quote. This will take you to the posting form, and will allow you to reply to the post. It will also automatically add the appropriate tags to quote the post you are replying to. To quote only part of the post, move the quote tags to enclose the desired text.
The quote tags are [quote="John Smith"]Quoted text here[/quote]. All text between these two tags will appear as quoted text. In the first quote tag, the name in quotation marks will appear as the author of the quoted text.
It will look like this: John Smith wrote: Quoted text here.
You must include the "" around the name you are
quoting.
You can also omit the author's name and just use [quote]Quoted text here without author's name[/quote].
How do I edit or delete a message?
If you are a registered user, you can edit or delete your own posts. You can edit a post by clicking the edit button for the relevant post. If someone has already replied to the post, you will find a small piece of text output below the post when you return to the topic. It lists the number of times you edited the post.
To delete a post, click the "x" button for the relevant post. Note that you cannot delete a post once someone has replied to it. In this case, ask the board administrator (photojpn or philbert) to delete it for you.
If you are not a registered user, you cannot edit or delete your posts. Ask the board administrator (photojpn or philbert) to do it for you. (There must be a good reason to edit or delete the post.)
What are the benefits of being a registered user?
To become a registered user of PhotoBBS, all you have to do is click on Register at the top of any page and submit a username (handle or real name), e-mail address, and password.
Registered users benefit as follows:
Your personal information (except the public profile) is highly secure and we will not reveal, sell, or rent it to anyone. Your email address will be used only for official notices from the PhotoBBS system or administrator/moderator.
Click here to access the Register page. Or click on "Register" at the top of any PhotoBBS page. After you agree to the terms and conditions, the Register page will appear. This is where you register your username, email address, and password and set your user preferences. You can later modify any of the settings by clicking on "Profile" at the top of any PhotoBBS page.
Registration Information
Username - Your username (handle) on the message board, the name you
use to log in. Your username can have one or two words (such as first and last
names). You need not use your real name. However, if you are a personal friend
of PhotoGuide Japan, please send us a note to identify yourself so we know which
username you are using.
Email address - The email address your username is registered to. All
emails from the PhotoBBS Administrator will go to this email address. (For example,
a notification that you received a reply to your message post or that you received
a private message). You can change this email address at anytime.
Password - The password you use to log in. If you want to later change
your email address or password, you must enter your current password. If you
forget your password, click "Login" then click "I forgot my password."
A new password will be emailed to you.
If you don't have time, you can now just scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on Submit to complete your registration. You can then login with your username and password. Later when you have time, you can set your user preferences as explained below. (Click on "Profile.")
Profile Information
This information will be publicly viewable. You can enter and modify any of
the optional items here. We recommend that you at least reveal your Location
(enter the city/state or city/country where you are located). The Location information
will appear below your username in your message posts. For Website, enter
the URL.
Also, the text in your signature can be formatted with BBCode tags to
create boldface, italics, colored text, etc. Click on BBCode to see how
you can format the text. You can also insert a small image (JPEG or GIF) or
smiley in your signature.
Preferences
Always show my Email Address - If Yes, a button to email you will appear
in your profile. (Your email address is not revealed.) If set to No, the email
button will not appear and no one can send you private email.
Hide your online status - If Yes, you will not be visible to normal users
in the "Who is Online?" list at the bottom of the PhotoBBS Forum Index
page.
Always notify me of replies - If Yes (recommended), then the "Notify
me when a reply is posted" checkbox on the posting form will be checked
by default. You can still uncheck it each time you post.
Notify on new Private Messages - PhotoBBS has its own private messenging
system that does not use regular email. You can send and receive private messages
to and from other PhotoBBS users via PhotoBBS instead of via email. If Yes (recommended),
an email will be sent to your registered email address to notify you that you
received a private message via PhotoBBS.
Pop up window on new Private Messages - If Yes, you will see a pop-up
window notifying you of new Private Messages you receive while you access PhotoBBS.
Always attach my signature - If Yes, then the "Attach signature"
checkbox on the posting form will be checked by default. You may still uncheck
it each time you post.
Always allow BBCode - If Yes, then the "Disable BBCode in this post"
checkbox on the posting form will be unchecked by default. You may still check
it each time you post. BBCode enables you to format text (boldface, italics,
etc.) in your messages.
Always allow HTML - "No." PhotoBBS does not allow HTML tags
to be used.
Always enable Smilies - If Yes, then the "Disable Smilies in this
post" checkbox on the posting form will be unchecked by default. You can
still check it each time you post.
Board Language - You can set the language of the user interface (including
graphical buttons) to one of over 15 major languages. (Your message posts must
still be in either English or Japanese.)
Board Style - This currently cannot be modified. In the future, we may
offer different "skins."
Timezone - The default is GMT + 9 hours which is Japan time. You can
modify this to suit your own time zone. The time does not work with Daylight
Savings Time, so if you have Daylight Savings Time, add 1 to your GMT modifier.
So if you are in GMT-5 and have DST, you will need to set your time zone to
GMT-4.
Date Format - The default string for this field is "D M d, Y g:i
a" This will display your date in the form Sat Apr 09, 2002 4:09 am. If
you really want to modify this, click on the date() link to see the allowable
syntax.
Avatar control panel
This control panel will not appear the first time you register. It will appear
when you click on "Profile" at the top of any page to modify your
profile.
Avatars are thumbnail-size pictures (JPEG or GIF) that display under your username for each message post. You can upload your own avatar or select one provided in the PhotoBBS avatar gallery.
Only one avatar can be displayed at a time. Its width and height can be no greater than 80 pixels and a file size no larger than 6 KB. You are not required to have an avatar, but having one makes it more fun to post messages.
Upload Avatar from your machine - If you already have
an avatar in your computer, you can upload it by clicking on Browse and selecting
the avatar. It will then be uploaded.
Upload Avatar from a URL - This is not allowed on PhotoBBS.
Select Avatar from gallery - If you do not have your own avatar, you
can select one provided by PhotoBBS. Click on Show gallery to see the Avatar
gallery. The avatars are displayed in the actual size in several categories.
Select a category with the drop-down list and click Go. To choose an avatar,
click the radio button underneath it and click Select Avatar.
Once you have an avatar selected, it will be displayed below your username in
all your previous and future message posts at PhotoBBS.
Submit button
After you are finished, click on Submit. Remember that you can always
come back and modify your Profile (click on Profile at the top of the page).
Return to the PhotoBBS Forum Index and click on "Login" to login with your username and password.
How do I login? (Registered users only)
1. If you are a registered user, you can login by
using the login form at the top of the PhotoBBS Forum Index page. Or you can
click on "Login" at the top of any PhotoBBS page. If you checkmark
"Log me on automatically each visit," you won't need to enter your
username and password each time.
2. Once you are logged in, you can post messages under your username,
change your profile, send/receive private messages, etc. To log out of the board,
click on the Logout [<your username> ] link at the top of any page.
Note: If you are not logged in and attempt to do anything that requires a login, you will be taken to the login screen. After you log in, you will be taken to the page you were attempting to go to before logging in. Things that require login include changing your profile, checking your private messages, posting to forums (if they require it), etc.
Also, if you are a registered user and do not login, any messages you post will not be appended with your username, signature, location, and avatar. The author will be displayed as "Guest."
I forgot my password! (Registered users only)
Click on "Login" at the top of any PhotoBBS page to access the Login page. Click "I forgot my password." A new password will be created, and sent in an email to you. When you receive the email, you need to click the new password activation link. After you have activated your new password, you may log in with it. You may change your password to what you like in your profile.
How do I modify my Profile? (Registered users only)
By modifying your profile, you can change your username, password, e-mail address, and user preferences. First login with your username and password, then click on "Profile" at the top of any PhotoBBS page.
The settings are explained under "How do I register?"
What are the basic rules for using PhotoBBS?
Who is the PhotoBBS administrator?
He is Philbert Ono whose handle is "photojpn" and "philbert." He is also the owner/operator of PhotoGuide Japan.
He has the highest level of control over the entire board. He can control all facets of board operations which includes setting permissions, editing or deleting any message, banning or deleting users, creating usergroups or moderators, etc. He also has full moderator capabilities in all the message boards.
What's the difference between messages posted by photojpn and philbert?
The author is the same, but messages posted by photojpn are official PhotoBBS business messages. Whereas, messages from philbert are his personal posts.
How can I contact the PhotoBBS administrator or moderator?
If you are a registered user, just click on his handle "photojpn" or "philbert." His public profile will appear. Then click on the email or PM (private message) button and type your message.
If you are not a registered user, click here to contact him.
Why are there so few registered users?
It's because we just started this message board system and people do not have to register to read and post messages here.
So what's what at PhotoBBS?
Basically, you will normally interact with three types of screens at PhotoBBS: the PhotoBBS Forum Index page, the message board page, and the topic page. Click on the respective screen links below.
1.
PhotoBBS Forum Index (http://photojpn.org/bbs/)
This is the main page. It appears when you click "PhotoBBS" on the
PhotoGuide Japan home page or when you click the "PhotoBBS Forum Index"
link at the top or bottom of all PhotoBBS pages.
You will see a list of all the message boards (called forums) we have at PhotoBBS. They are listed under three categories: Announcements, Discussions, and Ads.
The PhotoGuide Japan logo on the upper left corner of the page enables you to return to PhotoGuide Japan's home page. This logo also appears on all PhotoBBS pages.
On the upper right are the following links. These links appear
in almost all PhotoBBS pages.
FAQ: This link goes to this FAQ page (which you are reading now).
Search: Search for topics, messages, or authors in PhotoBBS.
Memberlist: List of all registered users of PhotoBBS.
Usergroups: Please ignore. (There are no usergroups at this time.)
Profile: View or modify your user profile. This is where you can change
your username, password, board language, and other preferences. This feature
is available only to registered users. For details, see "How
do I register?"
You have (X) new messages: This takes you to the private messaging center
where you can view, save, and send private messages to/from other PhotoBBS users
via PhotoBBS (not via email). For details, see "How do I
use the private messaging system?" This feature is available only to
registered users.
Register: If you want to become a registered user, click this link. For
details, see "How do I register?" (This link does
not appear while you are logged in.)
Login/Logout [username]: Click this link to login or logout.
If you are not logged in, you will see a login form at the top. This is for registered users.
Under Forum, the message board names have a folder icon next to them to indicate whether there has been a new post since the last time you logged in. The meaning of the icons is explained at the bottom of the page.
Below the message board name is a short description of the board and the moderator's handle name. Toward the right, you can see the current number of topics and the current number of posted messages in the respective message board.
At the bottom of the page is the Who is Online? box which shows who is currently online, how many users are registered, and other information.
To go to a message board, just click on the message board's name in the Forum column.
2.
Message board page
On the message board page, you will see a list of topics in chronological order
beginning with the latest post. You may see an "Announcement" at the
top of the topic list. Be sure to read it the first time.
To read a topic, just click on it. To start a new topic, click on the new topic button and type your message in the box. (For details, see "How do I post a message?" above.)
On the bottom right corner, you can see what you can and
cannot do in that message board (forum):
You can/cannot post new topics in this forum
You can/cannot reply to topics in this forum
You can/cannot edit your posts in this forum
You can/cannot delete your posts in this forum
You can/cannot vote in polls in this forum
Whether you can or cannot do something in that forum depends on whether you are a registered user or not and how the forum has been set up. For example, if you are an unregistered user (guest), you cannot edit and delete your posts. And if the forum is locked (indicated with a lock icon), you cannot post new topics.
3.
Topic page
This screen appears when you click on a topic on the message board page. The
title of the topic is shown at the top, and a Post reply button is also
provided. Click on it to reply to the displayed message.
If the author of the message is a registered user, you may
see any of the following buttons at the bottom of his/her message:
profile - Click to view the person's public profile.
pm - Click to send the author a private message via PhotoBBS.
email - Click to send the author a private email message.
www - Click to go to the author's Web site.
To return to the message board page or PhotoBBS Forum Index page, click the respective link at the top or bottom of the message.
Announcements appear at the top of the forum to which they are posted. They contain important information and you should read them before proceeding. Announcements can be posted only by the board administrator.
What are Sticky topics?
Sticky topics appear below any announcements in the forum and only on the first page of the message board. Sticky topics contain important information, but are rarely posted. They can be posted only by the board administrator.
What are Locked topics?
Locked topics (indicated by a lock icon) are set this way by moderator or board administrator. You cannot reply to locked topics.
What is BBCode?
BBCode is a special implementation of HTML. BBCode itself is similar in style to HTML, tags are enclosed in square braces [ ] rather than < > and it offers greater control over what and how something is displayed.
With BBCode tags, you can format text with boldface, italics, text color, text size, etc. For example, to create boldface text, enclose the text with [b] and [/b]. All text within the two tags will appear in boldface.
For details, click on BBCode under "Options" on the lower left corner of the posting form.
What are Smileys?
Smileys, or Emoticons are small graphical images which can be used to express some feeling using a short code, e.g. :) means happy, :( means sad. The full list of emoticons can be seen via the posting form. Try not to overuse smileys though, they can quickly render a post unreadable and a moderator may decide to edit them out or remove the post altogether.
Click on the desired smiley to insert it. The corresponding text code will appear in the text box after the last word in your message. (If you want to insert it elsewhere, cut and paste it on the desired location.) When you preview or submit your message, the smiley icon will appear in the message.
What are avatars and how do I get one? (Registered users only)
See the answer for "How do I register?" under "Avatar control panel."
How do I change my avatar? (Registered users only)
You can change your avatar at anytime. First login and click on "Profile" to access your profile page. Go to the Avatar control panel to delete your current avatar. Click Submit and go back to the Avatar control panel to upload an avatar from your computer or select an avatar in the avatar gallery. Click Submit. The new avatar will then be displayed below your username in all your previous and future message posts at PhotoBBS. For details, see the answer for "How do I register?" under "Avatar control panel."
How do I add a signature to my post?
To add a signature to a post you must first create one, this is done via your profile. Once created, you can check the Add Signature box on the posting form to add your signature. You can also add a signature by default to all your posts by checking the appropriate radio box in your profile (you can still prevent a signature being added to individual posts by un-checking the add signature box on the posting form).
How do I add a link in my message?
There are two ways to add a link:
1. Use the [url=][/url] tags, whatever you type after the = sign will cause the contents of that tag to act as a URL.
Example: [url=http://www.photojpn.org/]PhotoGuide Japan[/url]
This would display as follows: PhotoGuide Japan
The link opens in a new window.
2. Or you can just type the URL and it will automatically be displayed as a link as long as it is syntatically correct.
Example: "www.photojpn.org" would be displayed as www.photojpn.org automatically.
The same thing applies to email addresses. Any email address typed correctly will be displayed as a mailto link.
How do I insert an image in my message post?
The image you want to insert in your message (or signature) must exist on the Internet. In other words, it must have a valid URL. To display an image in your message, type the URL of the image and then enclose it with the [img][/img] tags. For example:
[img]http://www.photojpn.org/images/photojpn.gif[/img]
Or you can just type the URL and have people click on it to see it.
How do I create an online poll? (Registered users only)
If the message board allows polls to be created, you will see the "Add a poll" box at the bottom of the posting form. Enter a title for the poll and then at least two options or choices to vote on. To add another choice, click the Add option button. You can also set a time limit for the poll, 0 is a never-ending poll. There is a limit to the number of options you can list, this is set by the board administrator.
What languages can the user interface be displayed in? (Registered users only)
The user interface text, links, system messages, and graphical buttons can be displayed in any of the following languages: Arabic, Chinese, Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Norwegian, Polish, Portugese, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, and Turkish.
The default language is English. Note that all messages must be in English or Japanese. (Partial quotes in another language is allowed as long as the main portion of the message is in English or Japanese.)
How do I use the private messaging system? (Registered users only)
Besides being a message board system, PhotoBBS can also be
used as a private messaging system between registered users. You can send a
private message (PM) to another PhotoBBS user without either person having to
reveal his or her email address.
To use private messaging, you must be logged in. Then click on "You have
X new message(s)" at the top of any PhotoBBS page. This will take you to
your private messaging center.
Sending a private message
There are three primary ways to send a private message:
A. Go your private messaging center and click New Post.
B. Click the PM link on any user's post or profile.
C. Click on Post Reply from a private message you are reading.
The posting form is identical to the normal posting form with a few exceptions:
Username - The username of the person you want to receive the message. This
field will be automatically filled for you if you are replying to a PM, or clicked
the PM link in someone's profile.
Receiving a private message
There are three primary ways to be notified of a new private message:
A. The Private message link at the top of every page will display You
have X new message(s), where X is the number of new messages you have. Click
this link to take you to your Private Message Inbox.
B. You can be informed of new PMs by an email sent to the email address
your username is registered to.
C. You may also be informed of a new PM by means of a small window that
pops up while you are viewing the board. Email and pop-up notification will
contain a link to your Inbox.
For B and C, email and pop-up notification may be enabled/disabled in your Profile.
Note: If you are informed of a new PM and you go to your Inbox but find
no new message, it means that the sender must have deleted the PM before you
read it.
Deleting a private message
You can delete private messages by selecting the messages (with the checkboxes
next to each message) and clicking Delete Marked. Or you can delete all
messages by clicking Delete All.
The Outbox
When you send a PM, the message goes to your Outbox. It remains in your Outbox
until the recipient visits his/her Inbox, at which point the message is moved
from your Outbox to his/her Inbox. While the message remains in your Outbox,
you can edit or delete your post if you want. The message remains in your control
until it is received.
The Savebox
The Savebox is provided as a place to keep important PMs. Any message in your
Inbox can be saved to this Savebox by selecting the messages (with the checkboxes
next to each message) and clicking Save Marked. Then you can use the
Delete All function to discard all unnecessary messages in the Inbox.
Can I have my own message board hosted at PhotoBBS?
Yes, we would welcome any group of people with an interest in photography and Japan who need an online message board. It could be area-based (such as for photographers in Hokkaido, Osaka, Kyushu, etc.), subject-based (such as Japanese vintage photography), or occupation-based (postcard collectors, women photographers in Japan, etc.). So if you know a bunch of like-minded friends looking for a good (and free) message board to join, contact philbert and let's talk about it.
Your message board must have at least one dependable moderator who can look after the running of the message board from day to day. He/she will have the power to edit or delete posts and lock, unlock, move, delete and split topics in the forum. The moderator(s) also must prevent people from posting abusive or offensive material.
Why can't I login? (Registered users only)
The cause of this problem can be any of the following:
1. You are using the wrong username or password. (Check your username/password.)
2. You are not a registered user. (Click on "Register" to register.)
3. You have been banned from the board (a message will be displayed if you have).
Contact the board administrator to find out why.
Why do I get logged off automatically? (Registered users only)
If you do not checkmark the "Log me in automatically" box when you login, the board will only keep you logged in for a preset time. This prevents misuse of your account by anyone else. To stay logged in, checkmark the box wjhen you login. However, tthis is not recommended if you access the board from a shared computer, e.g. library, internet cafe, university cluster, etc.
I registered in the past but cannot login any more?!
The most likely reasons for this are; you entered an incorrect username or password (check the email you were sent when you first registered) or the administrator has deleted your account for some reason. It is common for boards to periodically remove users who have not posted anything so as to reduce the size of the database. Try registering again or contact the administrator to find out what happened to your account.
I cannot send private messages!
You are not registered and/or not logged on or the board administrator has prevented you from sending messages. If it is the later case you should try asking the administrator why.
I keep getting unwanted private messages!
If you keep receiving unwanted private messages from someone, inform the board administrator (photojpn or philbert). He can ban a user from sending private messages.
I have received a spamming or abusive email from someone on this board!
The email feature of this board includes safeguards to try and track users who send such posts. You should email the board administrator (photojpn or philbert) with a full copy of the email you received. It is very important this include the headers (these list details of the user that sent the email). He can then take action.
The times are almost certainly correct, however what you may be seeing are times displayed in Japan's timezone which might be different from the one you are in. If this is the case, you should change your profile setting for the timezone to match your particular area. Note that only registered users can the timezone in their profile settings.
I changed the timezone and the time is still wrong! (Registered users only)
If you are sure you have set the timezone correctly and the time is still different, the most likely answer is daylight savings time (or summer time as it is known in the UK and other places). The board is not designed to handle the changeovers between standard and daylight time so during summer months the time may be an hour different from the real local time.
What will happen if I post a message in a language other than English or Japanese?
It will be deleted. What's the use of posting a message if it cannot be read by the majority of users?
When I click the email button or PM button for a user, it asks me to login?
Sorry, but only registered users can send email and private messages to registered users. This is to prevent malicious use of the email/private messaging system by anonymous users.
Why can't I vote in polls?
Only registered users can vote in polls (so as to prevent spoofing of results). If you have registered and still cannot vote, then you probably do not have appropriate access rights.
The HTML tags in my message do not work!
PhotoBBS does not allow HTML code to be used in messages. This is a safety feature to prevent people abusing the board by using tags which may destroy the layout or cause other problems.
How do I quit or unregister from PhotoBBS? (Registered users only)
If you are a registered user, you can unregister by sending email or a private message to the administrator (photojpn or philbert). After you are deleted, the username of all your message posts will change to "Guest."
Who do I contact about abusive and/or legal matters related to this board?
Contact the administrator of this board (photojpn or philbert).
